Mr. Billy Gene Flannery, age 80, of Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 20, 2016, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 8, 1936, in Carter County, a son of the late William and Grace Bloomfield Flannery.
Billy was of the Christian faith and worked as a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed raising tobacco and cattle and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Rosa Nell Branham Flannery; one daughter, Rhonda Kay Flannery Boggs; two brothers, Benny Flannery and Samuel "Sam" Flannery; and three sisters, Jewell Hall, Nancy Shatzer, and Jennifer Barker.
Billy is survived by five sons and two daughters-in-law, Billy and Cindy Flannery of Grayson, Mike Flannery of Bowling Green, Brian Flannery, Jamie and Barb Flannery, and David Flannery, all of Olive Hill; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one brother, Steve Flannery of Mansfield, Ohio; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jolene DeBord and Joyce and Danny Tackett, all of Olive Hill, and Judy and Dale Porter of Mansfield, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at the Carpenter-Gearhart Cemetery in Olive Hill, with Brother Terry Dean officiating.
Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home, 145 Gearhart Street, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
