Mrs. Betty Jean Jones Stevens, age 80, of Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday morning, June 7, 2017, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
She was born October 15, 1936, in Carter County a daughter of the late Lee and Ruby Manning Jones.
Betty was a member of Porter Creek Church of God and worked as a clerk for Western Auto in Olive Hill. She enjoyed helping her husband Richard on the farm, rasing a garden and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard "Dick" Stevens; one son, Gregory Earl "Greg" Stevens; three brothers, James Jones, Burnell Jones, Marlin Jones; and four sisters, Ottie Abrams, Louise Evans, Velma Lee Jones, and Maxine Tackett.
Betty is survived by one granddaughter, Erika Nacole Stevens of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one great granddaughter, Skylan Nashe Stevens; one great grandson, Xavier Gregory Smith; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruth Ann and Virgil Ray Baker, Norma Jewell Kiser, and Roberta and Donnie Stone of Olive Hill; and three sisters-in-law, Vada Lou McCoy, Janice Seagraves Jones, and Marie Rice Jones, all of Olive Hill. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Victor Mabry officiating. Burial followed in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017, and after 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
B.J. Jones, Herbie Jones, Donny Stone, Donald Stone, Buddy Baker and Jason Carter served as pallbearers.
