Betty Cathern Barber Hay, 88, of Grayson, went to be with her Lord Sunday, May 21, 2017, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
She was born Jan. 3, 1929, the daughter of the late James (Steve) and Dolly Shepherd Barber.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Alfred (June) Hay Jr.; a granddaughter, Bridgett Jarvis; two great-grandsons, Tank and Teagan Jarvis; two sons-in-law, Patrick McDavid and Harlan Seagraves; a sister, Della Carroll; three brothers, Chester (Chuck) Barber, Charles Barber and Curtis Barber.
She was a member of the Lake Road Freewill Baptist Church.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family especially spending time with them on Sunday.
She is survived by four children, a son, Herb Hay, Lynn Boggs, Vicki McDavid and Judy (Danny) Waggoner; a son-in-law to be, Johnny Gollihe; three grandchildren, Sean (Lisa) McDavid, Kristy (Jamie) Swanagan and Mindy (Allen) Snodgrass; 12 great-grandchildren, Eric McDavid, Connor Robinson, Gracie Robinson, Gunnar Jarvis, Liam and Lane McDavid Maverick Jarvis, Allie (Jeremy) Mattox, Jacob, Shelby, Emily Snodgrass and Halle Swanagan; seven great-great-grandchildren, Bentley Maddox, Parker Snodgrass, Cadence Gollihue, Jackson Gollihue, Cooper Tinsley and soon to be baby Mattox and baby McDavid; two sisters, Ruth Hay and Dottie Williams; a brother, Elbert Barber.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Grant Sammons, officiating. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Connor Robinson, Gunnar Jarvis, Maverick Jarvis, Eric McDavid, Jacob Snoodgrass and Travis Horton.
