Mr. Bert Blevins, age 94, of Olive Hill, went to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, July 4, 2019, at St. Claire Health Care Center in Morehead.

He was born July 7, 1924, in Beetle, a son of the late Elijah Thomas and Ticcoa Cora Stephens Blevins.

Bert proudly served his country the United States Navy and was a member of the Upper Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church for 69 years. He was a gunners mate on a PT boat during WWII in the South Pacific. After the war he returned to Kentucky and became a very successful farmer for the remainder of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lillian Hall Blevins; one grandson, Andrew Blevins; four sisters; and six brothers.

Bert is survived by one son, Randy Blevins (Claudia) of Olive Hill; three daughters, Gerldene Fitch (Paul), Lucy Bond (J.C.), and Marilyn Haney, all of Olive Hill; one grandson, Gerald Scott Fitch of Nicholasville; four granddaughters, Paula Michele Adkins (Kelly) of Centerton, Arkansas, Miranda Smith of South Webster, Ohio, Abby Beck (Kevin) of Grayson, and Patricia McCleese of Olive Hill; nine great grandchildren, Chelsea Waldkrich, Lauren Adkins, Mikayla Smith, Nicholas Smith, Noah Beck, Jonah Beck, Laney Blevins, Brody McCleese, and Taryn McCleese; and one great-great grandson, Jack Henry Waldkrich. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Monday, July 8, 2019, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with sons-in-law Paul Fitch and Pastor J.C. Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup County, with full military honors presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2017, and after 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Scott Fitch, Lauren Adkins, Chelsea Waldkrich, Noah Beck, Jonah Beck, Laney Blevins, Nick Smith, Brody McCleese and Mikayla Smith will serve as pallbearers. Bill Ramey, Bob Haney, Tom Blevins, Clifford Blevins, Ernie Blevins and John Nance will serve as honorary pallbearers.
