Beatrice Simpson, 89 of Grayson, formerly of Marrietta, GA went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016 at Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Beatrice was born March 4, 1927 in Georgia a daughter of the late James E. and Emily Gibson Kidd.
She was a member of the East Cobb Methodist Church in Georgia and while in Grayson attended both First Church of Christ and Wilson Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She worked for the US Postal Service in Marietta, GA and worked a while at Gordon Foods. Beatrice loved to square dance and was a member of Y Knots.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh "Hoke" Simpson; one son, Kerry Simpson; two sisters, Doris Merritt and Louise Houston; two brothers, Ewell Kidd and Vache Kidd. Her survivors include a daughter Brenda Burchett of Grayson; two grandchildren, Todd "Rudy" Burchett and fiancé Chassi Smith of Grayson and Kevin Simpson of Dallas GA; daughter-in-law, Brenda Simpson of Grayson. Funeral services were conducted Friday Aug. 19, 1:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Joed Rice minister. Visitation was held Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson. Beatrice also had visitation at Mayes Ward-Dobbins in Marietta GA, Sunday Aug. 21 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. with burial at Marietta Camp Ground Methodist Cemetery.
