Mrs. Barbara Joann Slone Rice, age 69, of Grayson, passed away Tuesday evening, April 2, 2019, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

She was born January 19, 1950, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Paul and Helen Ratcliff Slone.

Barbara was of the Methodist faith and she enjoyed cross stitching and vacationing at the beach. She loved being stationed in Hawaii with her husband while he was in the military. Barbara also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Smith.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ronald "Ronnie" Rice, and would've celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Brooke Rice of Grayson; one daughter and son-in-law, Alia and Tyler Cain Sandy Hook; six grandchildren, Cameron Elizabeth Rice, Nicholas Shane Porter, Ian Jeffery Rice, Lilly Ann Porter, Karoline Elise Cain, and Nora Katherine Cain; and one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Patsy Slone of Grayson. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, with Brother Pat Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter Memory Gardens in Grayson.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Bob Haney, Bill Rice, Nate Rice, Chad Brammell, Gerald Haney, and Mark Hall will serve as pallbearers. Adam Slone will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
