Alice's Story

Alice "Joyce" Rucker, 88 of Webbville went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016 surrounded by her family at Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Joyce was born on May 22, 1928 in Willard to the late Charles "Watt" Rucker and Cone Posey Rucker. She was preceded in death by her seven brothers Charles, Victor, Eugene, Thornton, Edgar, John, Jack and one sister, Juanita "Lake" Rucker Sturgill. She retired from Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Georgia as an assembly mechanic on the C-5B aircraft extension. Joyce is survived by her son Carl "David" Boggs (Gail) of Webbville; three grandchildren, Shannon (Amanda) Boggs, Saundrea (Rob) Yoak, Scotty (Danielle) Boggs also of Webbville; seven great grandchildren Brayden, Isaac, Abigail, Rylan, Landon, Blayne, and Shepherd. Joyce was of the Christian faith and attended Cherokee Freewill Baptist Church. She was also a Kentucky Colonel and an avid member of the American Humane Society devoting her energy and passion for all of God's creation.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Wednesday at Malone Funeral Home with her son David Boggs, John L. Rucker and Shannon Boggs, ministers. Burial will be in the Webbville Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.
